The words this system uses

A glossary of Nemosyne, not of the category. These are the terms that appear in the console, in the tool documentation your agent receives, and in the rest of this site — each defined once, and linked to the page that explains it properly.

Chronicle
The append-only record of everything the system has been told. Nothing in it is updated or deleted: a correction is a later entry. Everything else — the tables, the search index, the rendered pages — is derived from it and can be rebuilt from it, so a figure a committee approved stays readable after it is restated. See how it works.
Observation
A source, captured as it was: a file, a record, a message thread. It holds what the document said, not what the system concluded, and every later claim points back to a passage in one. It keeps the permissions of the source it came from. See how it works.
Fact
A typed claim drawn from observations — a revenue figure for a period, a covenant threshold, a decision and who took it — citing the passage it came from. When two facts contradict each other, both are kept. See how it works.
Digest
A summary of many facts that a person or an agent can read at once: the current position on a company, a period, a topic. Digests are written when documents arrive, not when you ask, so reading them is cheap. See pricing.
Entity
A thing your work is about: a company, a person, a matter, a facility, an engagement. An entity exists only because a document mentioned it — a question never creates one — so each can be traced to the first document that named it.
Entity resolution
Deciding that “Meridian Holdings Limited” in a signed agreement, “Meridian Holdings Ltd” in a CRM and “Meridian” in a memo are one company — and that a similarly named one is not. See how it works.
Ontology
The concepts your firm’s memory is built from: which kinds of entity exist, what can be said about them, how they relate, and which rules apply. Your discipline’s concepts plus your firm’s own additions. See your discipline.
Pack
A ready-made ontology for one discipline — private equity, private credit, legal practice, tax advisory, audit — with its entity types, document types and fact kinds. A starting point: a firm can switch packs on, or take single pieces from packs it hasn’t. See your discipline.
Reconciliation
What happens when two sources disagree. Fixed rules decide, in order: is the gap within tolerance, which source carries more authority, which is more recent. An audited account outranks a management pack; an amendment outranks the agreement it amends. Both values stay readable. See how it works.
Visibility partition
Who may see a given piece of the memory, taken from the source’s permissions when it was captured. Anything derived from several sources is visible only to people who could see all of them, so access can narrow but never widen. Every answer is limited to what the person asking may see; when in doubt, it is withheld. See trust.
Citation
A pointer from a claim to the passage of the file, record or statement that produced it, named so a person can open it. A citation shows where a sentence came from, not that the source is right (limits: see trust).
Recall
Asking the memory something, through your agent. The work was done when documents arrived, so recall returns cited answers limited to what the person asking may see. Unlike search, it returns what the record establishes, including where it disagrees with itself. See how it works.
Egress allowlist
The list of places this installation may send data for processing. Left unset, the model endpoint is the only one; an empty list closes everything, the model included. Each destination — the model, OCR — is named on its own, so allowing one never allows another. Private cloud and self-host only; see where it runs.
