Slack, where the decision was actually made
A surprising amount of a firm's reasoning exists only in a thread: the condition agreed in passing, the reason a point was conceded, the number somebody corrected. Nemosyne reads the threads and keeps what they established, with the thread as the citation.
What it captures.
- Messages in the channels the connector is given, grouped into threads.
- Who said what, so a statement has an author and not just a timestamp.
- Files shared into a channel, read the way any other document is.
How it behaves.
- Authentication
- OAuth, against your Slack workspace.
- Permissions
- By channel membership — see below.
- Scope
- The channels the connector is given. A private channel it was never added to is not read.
- A document
- A thread, not a message. A forty-message thread is one unit of reading; a single line rarely establishes anything on its own.
- Sync
- Continuous; only what changed is re-read.
- Writes
- None. Nemosyne does not post.
What this means for permissions.
Channel membership is the fence. A thread in a channel a colleague is not in contributes nothing to their answers, and a fact drawn from that thread and a document is visible only to people who can see both. Nemosyne can narrow what Slack decided, never widen it.
What we enforce, and the limits we publish →Questions this raises.
- Do you read direct messages?
- The connector reads the channels it is given. Treat DMs as out of scope unless you have deliberately put them in it, and decide that before you connect rather than after.
- Is a casual message treated as fact?
- It becomes a cited statement, not a verdict. Where a thread disagrees with a document, the document usually wins on authority — and both stay readable, so you can see why.
- Will people know it is reading?
- That is a question about your firm, not about the software, and it is worth answering before you connect. The connector is registered by an administrator and visible in the console.
Connect it to what you already use.
